Relationship verification required. Vancouver Community College is included at Fil-Global's request. Its identity and public status are verified from official sources, but this does not establish a current Fil-Global contract, active partner status, authorized representative relationship or commission arrangement. Confirm the relationship in the WMS School Directory before counselling or referral.

May be eligible — conditional

Work while studying

An eligible international student may work off campus for up to 24 hours per week during regular academic sessions and unlimited hours during scheduled breaks, but only while meeting every IRCC condition and the conditions printed on the study permit. This is not automatic for every student or program. [18] [16]

Program-specific — verify program and CIP

Post-graduation work permit

VCC is DLI O19279717512, but not every VCC program is PGWP-eligible. Verify the exact program, credential, duration, CIP code, study-permit application date and the student's eligibility with VCC and IRCC before applying or paying. [17] [10] [19] [20]

No automatic PR qualification

Permanent-residence pathway

Graduating from VCC, completing a PGWP-eligible program or receiving a PGWP does not guarantee permanent residence. Express Entry and other pathways assess the individual. Full-time-student work, including a co-op term, does not count toward the Canadian Experience Class minimum work-experience requirement. [21] [22]

Potential CRS benefit — not a guarantee

Canadian education CRS points

An eligible Canadian post-secondary credential can add 15 CRS points for a one- or two-year credential or 30 points for a credential of three years or longer. These are only part of the applicant's overall Express Entry profile and do not guarantee an invitation or permanent residence. [23]

Who VCC may suit — and why consider it

VCC may suit students who want practical, career-oriented learning in an urban setting and are comparing certificates, diplomas, bachelor's degrees, post-degree programs or university-transfer routes. Its international catalogue spans areas such as baking and culinary arts, business, design, early childhood education, hospitality, technology, transportation trades and university transfer.

The useful question is not simply whether VCC offers a subject, but whether the exact program is open to international applicants in the intended term. VCC identifies some programs that are not available to international students, and its availability chart changes by program and intake. [4] [5]

  • Start with the international program catalogue, not the broader domestic catalogue.
  • Check the exact credential, delivery mode, campus and intake before shortlisting.
  • Treat an availability label as a planning signal, not a guaranteed seat or offer.

Applied facilities and support around the student

VCC describes its model as experiential learning and publishes hands-on facilities that include restaurants, an automotive shop, and a salon and spa. That is a useful signal for students who learn best through practical environments, but the amount and form of workplace or practical experience still depends on the individual program.

International services include application and registration help, academic advising, information about insurance and immigration-related study or work permissions, referrals and peer mentorship. The wider college service directory also lists career guidance, counselling, disability and diversity services, Indigenous services, interpreting, orientation, library access and tutoring. [2] [6] [7]

  • Open the individual program page to understand labs, practicums, placements or other applied components.
  • Ask how any required practicum is arranged and whether extra permits, checks, uniforms or equipment are needed.
  • Use VCC's international advisors for institution-specific questions and current government sources for immigration rules.

Budget, housing and immigration planning

VCC currently lists a CAD 145 international application fee and states that tuition, deposits and mandatory fees vary by program. Its fee page says amounts are approximate, subject to change and may increase by up to five per cent per year, so applicants should calculate from the current program page rather than a brochure or old quote.

VCC does not provide on-campus residence, so students need a realistic Vancouver housing plan. IRCC currently lists CAD 22,895 for one applicant's first year of living expenses outside Quebec, excluding tuition and transportation, and says the amount is updated periodically. DLI status also does not automatically create PGWP eligibility: the exact program, study history, language and field-of-study rules may matter. [8] [9] [14] [15] [10]

  • Build a full budget for tuition, mandatory fees, housing, transport, insurance, books and supplies.
  • Verify the current study-permit financial requirement immediately before filing.
  • Check VCC's PGWP list and the current IRCC rules for the exact program; never rely on a college-wide assumption.

Current updates and planning signals

International program availability was refreshed

VCC's availability chart was updated on 5 August 2026. Statuses vary by program and intake: many Fall 2026 entries are closed while selected 2027 intakes remain open for applications. The chart warns that availability can change and does not guarantee a seat or offer. [5]

New automotive clean-energy training was announced

VCC announced new automotive programs focused on clean-energy and sustainable-technology skills, with several offerings planned from September 2026 onward. International applicants must still confirm that their chosen program and intake are open to them. [11] [5]

The clean-energy centre timeline was checked

VCC's current construction page gives an approximate December 2027 substantial-completion target and Spring 2028 first classes for the Centre for Clean Energy and Automotive Innovation. This is a project timeline, not a promise that future facilities or programs are already available. [12]

Before you decide

  1. Confirm that the exact program accepts international applicants and is open for the intended intake.
  2. Review the program's academic, English-language and document requirements before paying the application fee.
  3. Calculate current tuition, deposits, mandatory fees and supplies from the exact program page.
  4. Plan off-campus housing early and test the budget against current Vancouver costs.
  5. Check the exact program against both VCC's PGWP list and current IRCC rules; DLI status alone is not a guarantee.
  6. Confirm any current Fil-Global relationship or authorized referral route in the WMS School Directory before counselling or submission.
